SOME ATTRACTIVE START-UP CONTESTS IN VIETNAM

Entrepreneurship is a new trend among young people. With resonant enthusiasm, an abundant source of ideas, and the ability to respond quickly, startup competitions are always an attractive destination for students.

1. Young Startups 2020:

The Young Startup is a competition on creating business ideas for students organized by BSC (Business Skills Club) of the Academy of Finance. Its first appearance was a huge hit at the Academy of Finance and promises to accompany and develop more start-up projects that are highly practical and bring benefits to society this year.

2. Techfest Vietnam

Since 2015, this competition has attracted more than 20000 attendees, 2600 start-ups, 1000 domestic and international investors. Every year, Techfest flexibly renews itself with the social context. For example, by 2020, the TECHFEST National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Search 2020 will relate to the COVID-19 pandemic.

3. CiC Startup Ideas:
CiC is a competition of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) assigned to the Software Technology Park of VNU-HCM (ITP) in collaboration with the University of Natural Sciences (US), the University of Economics and Law (UEL), and International University (IU) is in charge of the organization, with the support of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City and the Startup Support Fund of Vietnam National University-HCM.

The contest is organized to create an experience environment, improve skills and knowledge as well as inspire entrepreneurial thinking for nationwide students. The teams will go through tough rounds, useful training sessions with mentors and experts. Top 10 CiC have the opportunity to raise capital with investors. After the competition, the teams will be supported by CiC and ITP in starting a business.

4. STARTUP ZONE

STARTUP ZONE – formerly known as “Entrepreneur Talent Test” is an annual academic competition organized by the HR-STARTUP CLUB, under the Faculty of Management of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.

5. Gakken’s Business Idea Contest:
This is a business idea contest of Gakken – a Japanese education company. It will have themes around education, technology, and health with the aim of improving education. The contest takes place in mid-August and is renewed over the years. The first prize of the contest is worth 100 million VND. The second prize is 50 million VND and the third prize is worth 20 million VND.

6. Innovative Environmental Ideas for SDG of UN :
The competition challenges professionals and students from across Cambodia, Indonesia, and Vietnam to use ideas to solve environmental problems. Related topics include:
1) Climate Change Adaptation (Land or Coast)
2) Soil Ecosystem
3) Marine and Aquatic Environment
4) Water
The playground’s prize is 5 first prizes worth 1 million won each and has a scale from Korea to Southeast Asia countries.

7. National VCCI

The entrepreneurship program has been implemented by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) since 2003. It has contributed to arousing entrepreneurship among young people. A lot of contestants in this program have become administrators and successfully run their own businesses.

8. RICE BOWL STARTUP AWARDS
The Rice Bowl Startup Awards celebrates the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Southeast Asian startup ecosystem. It is organized by the New Entrepreneurs Foundation
